Marilla's Mindful Supplies

Loooove this place and its little free jar library :) I’ve found room spray, hair oil, wooden jar lids, tiny lotion bottles, spices, teas, beans, lentils, candy, nuts, chocolate chips, chia seeds… wooden pencil sharpener :) and a super entertaining podcast (TYFU) that I’ve been binging in reverse order! Love my jar tote ☺️

Marilla’s Mindful Supplies is one of my absolute favorite small businesses. Either the owner, Marilla, or the manager, Hailey, is always in the shop, and their knowledge of every single product is incredible - they’re genuinely happy to share their personal experiences and recommendations. I once an allergic reaction to a product and Hailey offered me a sample of a similar alternative to try before buying, and it worked perfectly! Their mission to reduce plastic waste aligns so closely with my own goal of creating less trash, and this store makes it more achievable. Being able to buy bulk items in exactly the amount you need, whether for a single recipe or a pantry restock, helps me reduce waste. As I run out of items at home, I’ve been slowly converting my cleaning, skincare, body care, and pantry staples to Marilla’s. On top of all that, the shop supports other small businesses through pop-ups where you can meet the makers and thoughtful community events. This place is community, care, and sustainability all in one.

I live in the dead center of both locations but gravitate to this one more. I love how I can bring my own jars and get exactly the amount I need of anything. I always hated buying huge bags of spices and coffee and having to find space for the overflow. I am gradually switching all of my spices over to the stock here. The prices are so affordable and high quality. Every visit I always end up getting something new to try or a new household item and have yet to be disappointed. I love seeing the new items and recommendations over on their Instagram. I highly recommend the vegan gummies and "chicken" broth powder. Life changing!!

This is my very favorite store in Rochester! I've been able to buy so many great items without all the plastic packaging. I love bringing my mason jars and refilling pantry staples. The dried mango is also. Great coffee too! And spices... I can refill herbs and spices for so much less money than the big brands in other stores. I love their shampoo and conditioner bars (especially the limited edition lilac festival collaboration with dip). You can also bring any extra clean empty jars to donate to the free jar library (or you can use those donated jars, in case you don't bring enough jars for your shopping)!! Strongly recommend a trip to Marilla's in the South Wedge neighborhood of Rochester 💚

Love this second location in Rochester! Bigger space with lots of products for you to fill up on! Worth a stop in! Highly recommend trying: Little Seed Farm deodorant w/ wooden applicator, wool dryer balls, lint remover tool, bamboo jar lids with holes for your reusable straws, dried mango, spice bottle refills!
